Kwara state will be allowed to participate in the athletics event at the forthcoming 2023 National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta state, gathered.

This is following the lift of the indefinite ban slammed on Kwara State Athletics Association by the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN).

A letter signed by Rita Moshindi, Secretary General of AFN read; “This is to bring to your notice that the suspension previously placed on Kwara State Athletics Association for associating with Coach Hamid Murtala who was banned by the National Anti – Doping Committee (NADC) for breaching rule 2.9 of the Anti –Doping Rule is provisionally lifted pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation by the (NADC).

“This decision is taken without prejudice so that Kwara State athletes can participate in the forthcoming National Youth Games.”

It will be recalled that the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) suspended Kwara State Athletics Association indefinitely from all athletics activities in the country last June 2023

The suspension was following the appearance ban of Track and Field Coach, Hammid Muritala at the just concluded 2023 AFN Golden League in Benin, Edo State.

Coach Muri, as he is fondly called was banned for anti-doping rules violation for a period of 10 years for doping a junior athlete, Fatimah Abdul Aziz at the National Youth Games held in Ilorin, Kwara State in 2021.
